The biggest thing to overcome for me was the relationship that I have with my body. Ever since I was young, I've always had a really harsh perspective of my body, destructive at times and so training has always been difficult to marry up with having a good, loving, compassionate relationship with my body.

Reuben has a really grounded way of working with me, and working with those struggles. Over time, I've shared more with him, about my relationship with food and how I see myself, whether it's weighing in, or tracking, whatever it is and he will work with me in a way that reframes it into a positive. Like an authentically honest positive experience that helps me to come into context with myself, in a way that's more honest and true to how things really are.

Will’s transformation

I'm 11 weeks in now I've lost just over nine kilograms, which is enormous. I feel so much better for it.

I'm in week 11 of a 12 week plan, and I just thought it was worth sharing my experience of working with Reuben so to give you a bit of backstory. Before I started, I was not in good shape at all. I've never gone to the gym, I've never been interested or excited by sports in general, or generally living an active lifestyle. I work at a desk all the time, very inactive, very poor diet, and once I hit 30, I've gradually declined.

I'd been putting on weight for a very long time and have been unhappy with my physique. With very low energy levels in recent years, I have been struggling with my motivation, and my mental health so it took a lot of courage for me to reach out to Reuben, in the first place.

I'm 11 weeks in now I've lost just over nine kilograms, which is enormous. I feel so much better for it. I've lost just over 12 centimetres of my waist and 10 centimetres off my chest, my energy levels are through the roof. And yeah, it's been a really positive and manageable experience working with Reuben.

Training when you’re not a ‘gym person’ - dan

Training with Reuben was different to what I expected. Even though I’m not a ‘gym person’ I have enjoyed training with Reuben, and I have made a lot of progress.

I’ve lost 5 stone, and I feel much stronger. I feel comfortable with the concept of looking after myself in terms of my diet as well, so overall I feel much more confident in going to the gym, eating right, making the right kind of choices, and I've got someone that means I'm accountable.

I was just a message to say thank you so Reuben, for getting me through a really good transformation over the last eight weeks. I started it at the beginning of lockdown, and its the first time I’ve ever trained online.

I contacted Ruben. He gave me some really good structure, and especially daily structure whilst obviously things aren't as they normally are. And I just followed a really strict diet plan and been held to account by Reuben throughout. And because of that, in eight weeks I've now lost the same way I feel, fitter, stronger, faster.

And I just feel really good and it's funny because for the last 10 to 15 years I've been on and off, haven't really been that disciplined in my training, and just suddenly having the focus of this online training given me, it's enabled me just to follow a clear plan, report back and ask for any guidance I needed throughout, and it just goes to show you, you don't need all the gym equipment and all the best facilities in the world you can do it from home, with very basic, this gym equipment that we've got here, using my own bodyweight and anything you can find on the house so get highly recommended for anyone else and looking forward to the next step.

‘Being a musician, and being out on the road 2, 3, 4 times a week, it means that I have a very inconsistent routine, where some nights I'll be getting in at four in the morning, some nights, I'll be going to bed at nine o'clock.’

‘Food is whatever you can get, whenever you can get it, but for me it's the accountability so to know that I'm accountable to someone, so I do have to turn up. So, to have someone to work with who can relate to that who has also been there as a musician, and also understands musicians is very, very important, because what I need as a musician is I need to be able to do what I do, but I need to be able to fit the fitness, and the nutrition around that to give me that energy to keep me going on a week to week basis.’
